I’ve been a member on here for a while, whilst I’ve owned a Daytona for several months, I have in fact only just got my licence! Anyway I’ve got around 100 miles under my belt so far and loving it. Thanks to all on here who have helped me so far.
Yaayyyyy, glad to see that you've squeezed in some bike time for yourself. The bike and the scenery are both looking great. The 'tona must be a whole different beastie to what you passed your test on
Congratulations on getting your licence. With many roles in life, 10x years experience is really only 1x years experience 10x times (In fact I guess some only require the same skillset at retirement, that you got "off pat" in the 1st week) Riding a motorcycle on the road is the diametric opposite to that. Every time you go out you will experience new and unpredictable situations that you must learn the best response to. Furthermore the standard of driving by many other road users ( & who's numbers are constantly increasing) seems to me to be deteriorating. To compound that you are as vulnerable as a cyclist, yet riding a machine that can propel you to a speed in excess of the national speed limit in around 4 seconds, then go on to more than double that. Nonetheless there is little to compare to the thrill of riding a motorcycle imho, as many on here will agree. So enjoy your stunning looking ride, and keep her "shiny side up".!
Good for you and well done on getting bike, then licence. Enjoy it and get to know it more mile after mile as they are cracking bikes.
Thanks all I will get a few more pics up. As I’ve had it all winter I’ve been keeping an eye out on here and on eBay for bargains. It’s a very different riding position to the Z650 I learnt on, to the point I nearly fell off on my first ride! Obviously I’ve been driving for 17 years, and also done around 10,000 miles on a bicycle but both are very different to this beast! So far I’m happy in a straight line, but not very confident cornering, that said I’m just enjoying getting out and going at my own pace.
My top tip for the Daytona is don’t think about steering, just look where you want to go, and look up, up, up and up some more. Lastly, practice, practice and a smidge more practice Oh the fun of the sports bike, don’t forget to breathe too!
^^^^^ what he said. I would also add try to stay as relaxed as possible, sounds ridiculous but loosen your grip on the bars and let the bike do the work. In my experience if you ride all tensed up most sports bike will fight against you. You have made a good choice of first sports bike as I think the Daytona is probably the easiest to get along with/learn with. Enjoy!
Lol, really.??? They do look pretty perfect to my eyes. Our bikes are almost identical , hope if we ever happen to find ourselves at the same place they don't accidentally get mixed up. https://www.675.cc/675/threads/the-2015-forum-track-day.25125/page-12#post-361032
