Oi. Buy a front graphite mud guard. That bike looks no worse than mine was. Cost less than 1000 to fix and pimp out. Easy job! !
Errr... I tell you what, if/ when I trackday her, and if you're at the same event maybe you'd like to take her out for one of the sessions? Will that do ?? (Tell=tale); Oh and did you see what that "nasty D41" said about you in the caption competition ?? I think you should put a contract out on him.! (But it may cost a bit, 'cos if he's anything like the character Wesley Snipes portrays him as, he'll be what we used to call a "hard target"! ) Not wanting to distract your annoyance away from me, honest.! That'll teach you for dissing my dog Darren
i think Tony_b has a left and right side fairing for sale in graphite if you check the for sale section.
Thanks a lot for that TJ. I've already sourced a right, and the left isn't too bad actually (just now been re-attaching a lug on it!) Nosecone is a definitely beyond repair, the headlight unit I may be able to “patch-up”, but it’ll never be pretty, and the R/H foot hanger assembly is also DOA. Radiator has an “interestingly alternative” shape, but it’s holding fluid fine so I'm only going to "tweak it" a little. The same sort of story with a most of the rest of her. I’m really enjoying myself, with parts of her spread over the whole stable. Ok, back to it…
I've had to stop playing with her, to shower & shave ready for work tomorrow. Amongst other things, I found that there was a bit of corrosion starting under the fuel tank. It was pretty easily sorted, bit of emery paper and some zinc phosphate primer. However left unattended you can see exactly where it's going to fail. It did occur to me that a lot of owners will probably entrust their servicing to the dealers, and never see under the tank themselves. Obviously corrosion treatment isn't part of the mechanics service schedule and so I doubt they'll attend to it.? Just thought it may be worth mentioning.
I've done two winters on my 675 and had my tank off loads and not one speck of rust to be found. Weird one dude!
As you know Hazza, I don't know her history yet.! But she doesn’t seem like she's spent a lot of time standing outside. The corrosion was around the inside of the bottom seam (both sides) & at the point where the rear frame to tank bracket attaches to the tank. I wish I'd taken photos now, but I just set to and sorted it without thinking. Anyway, I'm pleased yours is ok, and hopefully mine is a one off. :?
That's really, really thoughtful of you Bladebikker.! But I think I need a bit more than a touch up stick ! Ahh, unless you're taking the mickey? -Which is probably more likely on here !!
Shall do Edski675. I'm currently creating an increasingly large stack of components, and less and less bike. (A mate popped round last night, and commented that it now looks like an anorexic Speed triple ) Oh and Hazza, I know you weren’t entirely convinced about my "attempt at helpful advice" about the beginnings of corrosion on my Tank. Well, in my trawling around for parts I came across this advert for a lovely tank (gimme, gimme, gimme..! ) and the seller admits tht there is some rust underneath.! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-675-F ... 45fcce82c7 If the Yellow ones (or Red ones?) are the fastest, and the Black ones are the Stealth versions, maybe the grey ones are the rusty-ist ?
