Hi. Sorry if this has been covered before, I've searched 'exup' and and there are too many posts to read through. My exup valve keeps seizing, I free it, it seizes again, I free again ... My question is, can I simply deactivate it via tune ecu and carry on as normal? Will a remap be needed? Pros and cons? It's a 2006 daytona with arrow end can and map, all else is standard. Thanks, Rob.
A remap will always be the best option but isn't require straight off the bat. Just remove the cables and the spring will hold it in the open position. Unplug and remove the motor part then disable via tuneecu and clear any errors. Just be aware you'll lose a tiny bit of low down torque but you may not even notice.
As above Tune ecu & remove motor Don’t worry about the remap until you do major breathing mods Ie. Decat headers, race air filter, SAI delete Fuelling May be abit off (under 6k but nothing that will damage your bike It’s high rpm & running lean that kills engines
Thanks for the advice. I decided to free it up and ge it working again. Will see how it goes over the next few months and if it gets stuck again may deactivate. I must admit, it sounded nicer at low revs with it stuck in the open position.
I had trouble with mine last winter (late summer) and couldn’t figure out what was up as it wasn’t seized and was actuating with ignition cycles. I disconnected it and used tune ECU to disable it. It put the fault light out and gave some extra roar from the exhaust which I liked, but I didn’t like the noticeable loss of low down torque. In the end I put it back to normal and bought a second hand motor actuator and it only bloomin fixed it. Any way long story short is that you do get quite a noticeable loss of torque if you ride at low revs.
