Had the second race of the season last weekend at Assen with dry weather and around 15 degrees on the Metzeler TD’s I used at the first race weekend.
Q1 I only managed 15th place but could kind of feel I could of been going quicker everywhere, tried to do that in Q2 and found myself going slower. Was paying to much attention to braking late and not flowing enough with corner speed so started the race in 15th.Not what I was hoping for.
Rolled up to the grid and put the bike in neutral let the clutch out and stalled it,the display said neutral but it wasn’t.Started the bike and the lights went out so managed to get away safely but it was a unsurprisingly my worst start ever.By turn 3 I was second from last P35,I had to laugh at myself and at the same time tell myself that this wasn’t going to happen.
Finished back at P15 and had lots of fun with plenty of aggressive overtaking and some sliding about.Did get done on the brakes by another rider at the last corner which is classic, had give the guy a big thumbs up on the slow down lap.Hé was taking no prisoners.
Not going to make a start like that ever again.

Sorry to read the event wasn't as rewarding as usual for you Nik.
Hopefully it will just make the success of the next one that much sweeter for you.

  3. Shame about the start but could have been worse, always frightening to see riders stranded on the grid mid pack when the race starts:eek:
Great fight back though to make up 20 places, as you say makes for a fun and exciting race, much less boring than being out in front on your own;), shame there's no prizes for most places gained.
did you find any issues with the gear indicator or going to change your start procedure to make sure it doesn't happen again, at least you haven't got all those buttons, launch control and lowering devices to mess about with:D
Onwards and upwards, better luck for the next race.
