Just finished fitting the standard slipper clutch from a 2014 Daytona into my 2007 track bike. I bought a complete clutch from the States for £86.00 ( real bargain) via flea bay. Anyway once the clutch cover was of I pulled out the plates and popped out the clutch centre. This where it got a bit interesting. The main clutch basket from the 2014 looked identical to the 2007 item. So I took a load of measurements and come to the conclusion they were exactly the same. So I left the original outer basket in place and just slotted in the new clutch centre and plates. Job took about 2 hours to complete. And cost £150 including new gaskets and oil. Happy days.
Sounds awesome, so you just used the 13> frog springs. Plates/ steels and pressure plate springs? Or did you just use the 07 plates and springs etc
You need the 2013 on, clutch inner drum, pressure plate including release bearing, springs, Spring bolts, friction plates and steel plates. From the 07-12 you use the clutch outer drum, thrust washers, clutch nut and washers, lifter rod.
Been looking at a sigma but just couldn't justify the cost as you should also consider fitting new steels and fiction plates to get the correct pack depth. Cost around £900. So just ordered the 2013 slipper clutch parts from T3 to fit me 2010 daytona. Cost £470 including gasket and delivery with forum discount. Will take photos when I fit it to show purchased parts and what's involved in swap.
Thanks mate for quick response Last time I was doing trackdays on Slovakiaring on my 2013 daytona I didnt feel like it was working
2013 675R - it will still break traction changing down to 1st and dumping the clutch. but I guess less than it would on an older bike.
I tend to treat all these things as an "aid" rather than a solution. So even with a slipper, I will still blip the throttle. So the slipper is only dealing with small mismatches in engine / wheel speed.
Took some photos while fitting the new 2013 slipper clutch to my 2010 Daytona - full details below if anyone is interested. http://racetrackrefugee.com/2016/01/16/triumph-daytona-slipper-clutch/ It's not a difficult job, but I had a mechanic give me a hand which gave me the reassurance that it was being fitted correctly. If you follow a workshop manual, have the right tools and take your time, you shouldn't have any problems either. Love the new lighter clutch action. Will be testing it all in Cartagena in 4 weeks time!
Haha dude you are a mind reader as that has double answered a needed question New plates & steels along with the judder springs??
Had a quick test ride with the new slipper clutch. Really like it. Super light action too. To anyone wondering whether to do this mod, I'd say go for it. Just wish I'd secured my triumph race support discount before I bought it!
