Sorry if this upsets some people but I have really had it with BMW drivers lately (now I used to own a BMW but was never as bad at the recent ones I have come across lately) yesterday whilst riding down the A2 was turning off to join the M25 and as I am riding up the slip road suddenly I hear a massive screech and a puff of smoke appeared and some utter bellend in a BMW M3 has cut across from the outside lane at the last minute to make the turning and nearly run into me in the process. I went absolutely ballistic I was standing up on my foot pegs turning road screaming obscenities at him and shaking my fist at him. I can honestly say that if the lights had been red the bike would have been on it's stand and I would have dragged him out of the car and used his skull to break in my Alpinestars GP Plus knuckle armour. Now that might sound a tad bit harsh but that idiot could have killed me and he knew hence why he crawled up the slip road keeping a 40ft gap between me and him. What I want to know is why is it when people drive a BMW they suddenly think right F**k everyone else I own the road and will drive where I want to and if I cut people up I don't care? Just because you drive a BMW does not make you a good driver and it does not make you better than anybody else on the road so have some bloody respect for other road users because the next bellend in a BMW that does anything remotely dangerous near me is going to pay..
Last near miss for me was a Mercedes pulling out on me on a country road! After my accident, I now have quite a good way of dealing with this... I punch their wing mirror off! Biggest stress relieve for me when I'm on the bike, although I do give them a 5 second window to apologise.
Funny you say that dude Merc drivers have also tried to kill me at some point like your style of dealing with it though might have to adopt that one hehe
It seems driving standards are dropping rapidly lately. I had to do a 200 mile round trip last week to Liverpool and by the time i got home my blood pressure must've been twice what i started with... people sat in the outside lane with nothing on the left, hardly anyone indicating and where are the police? Seems all the police cuts are in road policing
Last week the police were busy with the country's scum, no time for road police as they were used to protect local JJB stores.
I have to agree with paulcdb that driving standards are dropping. I had someone drift onto my side of the road and write my wifes car off last month (lucky no one was hurt) and he is still saying it was my fault
The funny thing is everything that I had to go through to get my bike license with the Mod1 and Mod2 and the tests for the bike license are going to change again next year but yet the car tests have stayed the same apart from the show me tell me addition it's disgusting they really should do something about it.
If everyone was forced to take some form of bike riding and training b4 getting a car licence it would make the roads a far safer place. How many of us bikers do lifesavers when in the car? Most probably as it has become 2nd nature. These twats just sit cocooned in their little bubble and seemed to have lost their periphaval vision. Hard Stare through a black visor tends to get them creeping back into their seats.
I own a BMW and I dont think I'm THAT bad. Have cut accross a motorway once though when I realised I was about to miss my exit - it was 20m till the next one and then obviously the 20m back - wasn't going to do a 40m round trip extra for the sake of it!
He's a witch burn him burn him   Not trying to tar all BMW drivers dude I have just come across some really stupid ones lately and don't get me started on Mercedes drivers I think the above point of making drivers do lifesavers is an excellent idea and somebody needs to have a chat with the car designers too nowadays as they are putting the rear bulkheads in stupid places so much so that you see more in your mirror than you do if you look over your shoulder but of course every mirror has the ubiquitous blind spot which people all seem to forget.
My instructor was totally against the Mod 1 test as he said it was car drivers that needed to learn to look before changing direction! Which is completely right, but as we know, it's not the driver that will end up on the floor because they didn't look before changing lanes it's the rider of the bike that's awaiting the ambulance because some knob wasn't paying attention!
Car drivers; 1. On your mobile chatting!!! Not good 2. On your mobile texting!!! Really pissees me off!!! 3. just not looking!!! Weapons grade Bellend!!! 4. Middle lane morons!!! Move the f*ck over to the left!!! Rant over Thanks
Dunno about BMW drivers...I drive a Mercedes - it's a nice car..it has a cruise control on it which allows me to just steer it with my knees while I chat on the phone, hopefully with a hamburger in my other hand to munch on and a strawberry milkshake in the cup-holder. It does have it's drawbacks though...the main one is that big radiator grill at the front....it's always collecting junk - hardly a day goes by where I'm not pulling twigs, leaves, pedestrians, SV650s, etc. out of it....it's most annoying.
In general the the higher end brand the car is, the higher end nob the driver is. Though there are exceptions to every rule. Stay safe everyone!
ok heres my 2 pence worth i drive a bmw and disagree with your branding ,its got nothing to do with the car ,its the driver ,ask yourself this ... would you rather have a bmw behind you with an average driver all be it extremely good looking and very safe and aware of any potential dangers behind the wheel ie (me) ,or a bmw with a 40+ buisnessman still pulling his hair out from the stress of mind numbingly pushing buttons and sucking his md,s ass all day whilst on the phone to his nagging wife whos trying to suck the last little bit of sanity from his frazzled brain cells before he gets home so she can then start again or option c the 18 year old with the peak cap on ,seat tilted as far back as possible, with his eyeballs rolling around in the back of his head while hes listening to hard house and trying to roll a splff at the same time
There are exceptions to every rule, and we all know that our sweeping generalizations are just that! just like bikes, its not the make, it is the attitude and skill of the drivers. With the exception of gixers.....see point one!
Valid point that dude and yes that was what I was getting at I wasn't saying all BMW drivers are bellends just the ones that I have come across lately have been utterly useless and should have their licenses torn up on the spot. I agree that the youngsters are generally more cocky but then who wasn't when we were that age the difference I had was that I had ridden a 125 and done a CBT when I was 17 before I did my car test a few months later so I had the knowledge of what to look for from a bikers viewpoint and I think that is something they should teach every driver who wants to sit the car test.
