    Hi All,

Just bought a low mileage 2009 STR.

4,300 miles with one owner in burnt orange.

Unfortunately, the bike was stored for many years and there's paint flaking off from the engine and radiator and corrosion on some of the steel parts.

Can anyone recommend a good paint for the bits that get hot?

    Thx.

Hi Gremlin,I’ve used Hammerite radiator paint(for domestic radiators) to tart up a radiator that was looking worse for wear and it still looks good 3 years later.Didn’t use any undercoat but did sand it back down to the ali.Not exactly a pro approach but worked for me.Good luck with getting the bike back in shape.

  5. I've used Hammerite and its held up well on several areas of my bike. Its good in that it doesn't need any priming, covers well and is designed to stop corrosion. I think I used a silk (rather than matt or gloss) finish which blends in well.
