I'm still planning on following your lead and putting a 765 motor into my Gen2 675R, but that's been in pieces for so long I thought I'd buy something I could actually use. I've been looking out for a 'donor' 765 bike to use in my conversion, but even crash damaged ones fetch strong money.
Great plan My ideal bike too. I'll be ordering whatever street triple is on the go in a few years myself . Hope she brings much joy. What colour?
Yeah, I got just the engine though looking at it now a donor bike could have been a better option since it would have had the extra ECU stuff, but mine is running on the older ECU so its all good in the end. Just be mindful of the potential starting issues, I'm still working through them.
My intention is to transplant everything - wiring, ECU, clocks etc., so in theory it should run as per the 'donor' bike.
Would think so, just need to get around all the wiring and routing it with the changes from those and turning off anything extra like ABS, traction control etc. But it should be alright
James Packwood did the full 765 conversion on a 2009 Daytona, for use as a race bike. I was negotiating with him to buy that bike a month ago, but we couldn't quite agree on price. Then it sold to someone else (no idea who). JPR Motorcycles / Independent Motorcycle Service / Timsbury He does a lot of work in BSB and with Triumph team, definitely knows his stuff.
Yeah, easier with a race bike. I didn't want to lose the undertail otherwise that whole area if you change the rear subframe to a gen 3 gives you a perfect place to hide wiring and stuff, same with losing the headlights for a track bike, lots of room to play with.

So far I’ve been very restrained about modifying it. Just some carbon heel plates and a genuine Triumph tank pad. And a smattering of titanium bolts.
