Nice, are they Al or Mgn?
White ones make bike look lighter, some cleaning needed occasionally [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES].

  6. Just mooching through this thread, I've not been on here for a few years after my old bike spat a valve out round Donington. If you're getting the head worked on, make sure you know what the warranty situation is: I got a full rebuild on my engine after it started getting a little bit rattly sounding all of a sudden. i regarded the bike as a keeper so spent about £3k on a full rebuild with the head ported & skimmed by one of the UKs best head tuners, who works on BSB and BSS bikes, amongst others. It made good power, just under 120hp on a dynopro dyno (which is probably 125 or so on a dynojet), but crucially made 5-10hp more from about 7 to 10krpm, so proper grunt. I had this done at the same time as a decat & exhaust valve removal, which all helps. I did 2 track days and about 600 road miles until a head popped off the top of a valve coming out of coppice at donington, locking the engine up solid. This was a fully rebuilt engine, top & bottom, new valves, new big ends, new oil pump, new everything that could wear, and done by a very well respected engine builder, who unfortunately didn't offer warranty on either tuned heads or engines that have been on track. As a gesture of goodwill he said he'd rebuild it at only the cost of parts, but couldn't put it ahead of paid work, so would take about 6 months to do. I ended up selling the bike with the dead engine at a pretty big loss (£1200 less than I'd paid for the bike, not accounting for the engine work cost).
In hindsight, knowing that these earlier engines can suffer with valve issues, especially when given a hard time on track, I'd have spent the money on a slipper clutch to help ease things when I was knocking it down gears and i'd also taken 4 or 500 rpm off the rev limit. They don't make any more power up there anyway.
Best of luck to you if you do get the work done on the engine, but make sure you know what you're getting for your money.

Call me a sucker for punishment, but i'm back on here now skulking about to buy another bike: After 3 years messing about with an 07 blade, a supertwin and an 07 gsxr 600, I'm coming back for more as the chassis just can't be beaten!
