    RIP fellas.
What a testament to this event that these guys had devoted so much of their lives to it and indeed made the ultimate sacrifice.
The protesters do them a great disservice. I find it bizarre that folk take it upon themselves to 'protect' grown adults participating in an event under their own free will. As said in an earlier post there are many more practices deserving protest. The condescending opening of kraemers' post typifies this do-gooder attitude that has got the UK into the mess it is in.
What is the point of life lived without danger? As a motorcyclist and snowboarder, I face it and embrace it.
Bill Currie, Kevin Morgan, I salute you.

The name Kevin Morgan rings bells... after all I live in Shrewsbury.

Here's a link to the story in the local rag, with pic just before the accident.

Tragic. As others have said, if we banned everything that posed a risk, we'd never get out of bed.

Real shame about the accident. Hazza and I were about 1/4 mile away from the crash. The pic in the article was taken at union mills which is about 18 miles before the accident site.

I wonder how the list of casualties/fatalities would compare on a proportionate basis with riding on the UK roads at any other time?...anyone have any insight on this??

    Re: TT Tragedy

Sadly we are now up to 5 killed during the festival. A rider that was injured in a crash yesterday died overnight. As a local I’ve seen bad years before so this is nothing new unfortunately. There is no simple explanation as to why it can go so wrong it just happens. It is rumoured that one of the deaths happened when an elderly gent was asked to move his Norton sidecar outfit from an access road. It hit a parked car and flipped over on the rider pinning him underneath. I think that the other 2 deaths happened on the mountain so speed, skill experience and downright bad luck could all be factors.
Hopefully these will be the last to pay the ultimate price for their passion.

    Re: TT Tragedy

Sorry but I feel that there is a simple explaination.

A vast amount of those who loose their lives while visiting here are riding out with their ability and dont know the roads. Admittedly the one way system does act like a bit of an invite for people to ride faster than they perhaps would normally but they should still ride in side their comfort zone especially with not knowing the roads but a majority do not, they are the ones who have the accidents and, in my opinion, are slowly spoiling it for the rest of us. Its these deaths 'campaigners' should focus on rather than lobbying to ban the whole TT. The racers know the risks, accept the risks, and yet choose to go racing on closed roads. I have nothing but admiration for these guys whether they are solo riders or sidecar outfits.

Any deaths are sad and my thoughts go out to the families of the fallen.

One of these was definately a member of the public....a friend of mine called me today to see if I was over there, he know the rider :-(

  15. Another racer died this morning in the 600 race.

  16. Re: TT Tragedy

Just read about that. Another racer doing what he loved. We all go one day one way or another. Better to go enjoying yourself than racked with pain through terminal illness.

Thoughts go to the family. R.I.P

Really sad to hear of accidents. Thoughts with the families.
People die every day doing things they love.
You pay your money and take your chances.
RIP and fingers crossed there is no more!

A local and friend of DaveM also died yesterday. He died on his way back over fairy bridge when a car ran him off the road. I spent the night with Dave. He's gutted and no matter how much we say people died doing what they love they should go out this way. Please stay safe everyone. My thoughts to fallen riders.

I agree with you Si. Motorbikes are awesome but they ain't worth dying for.
