Yep, my suspicions have been confirmed: Big Bertha the BMW is definitely too heavy for me to lift if I drop her. It's not always good to be right about something! I was trying to heave her upright and off the side stand on the driveway after washing her. I heeaaaaaaved too much... And promptly toppled her over on to her other side. What a nob. But at least I cushioned the landing for her with my soft and squishy body. To make it worse, I then had to get Mr J to rescue her as there's no way in hell that I could lift nearly 200kg of hurt pride.
I hope both you & your big beemer came through it without damage Janey. Fwiw I've been there before, & I'd lay strong odds that almost any experienced biker will have had the old "tipping point tussle". Back in the 80's I used to skip around the city using my MTX200. My girlfriend was keen to get into biking, but was only about 5'2". She used to borrow my bike, but had to start & halt next to curbs that were at least 6" above the gutter so she could mount/dismount. Frankly I'm impressed that you've manoeuvred your beemer thus far.
I like her style I knew that it would happen. And I know that it will happen again. The only surprise (apart from that it hasn't happened sooner) was that I didn't go into fully blown meltdown or have a flounce and snivel that I'm going to sell her, which is my usual coping strategy.
Hope both you and the bike came away unscathed, did Mr J at least get an amusing picture before he lifted the bike as a reminder You're not the first and won't be the last, but at least you did the important thing sacrificing yourself to save the bike.
Oh, Shoot Glad you are OK - as you know I did similar only a few weeks back but managed to lift mine up..... Was there much damage ??
Oh, no, no pics... He's got it on HD security cam instead!!! Some very light scuffs to the crash bung, and that's it! Even the ridiculous winglets were unscathed. I LOVE YOU R&G.
