Can anyone tell me what the thing is in the bottom left of the attached photo that goes to the Reed valve covers? I've just changed my valve cover gasket and found it disconnected (electrically). I put everything back together and plugged it back in. Bike didn't want to tick over and was smoking like mad. Unplugged it and the bike runs sweet again? 1 IMG-20210516-WA0001.jpg

    It’s a secondary air valve

Thanks! Any idea why plugging it in makes it run like shit and smoke loads?

Am not to sure to be honest, I’ve always know them to be after the combustion chamber so I carnt see how it would effect anything. Have you plugged it into tuneecu to see if there are any codes?

They use the vac from the inlet to modulate a diaphragm pump.
If that's failed/ holed then it's probably back feeding the exhaust gas onto the inlet side.

Thanks, thats sounds like it probably is what was happening. I'm just going to leave it unplugged, its been like that the 2 years i've owned it and always ran alright without.

I thinks it’s mainly used for emissions more then anything like power/torque

Yes it's to clean up emmision.
Burns unused rich mixture. That's why your get pops and bang's when you change the map or exhaust..
