Sorry another engine rattle / CCT thread!

I bought this bike with suspected CCT failure. I have bought and a fitted a new manual CCT. The bike has now started (eventually) but makes a rattle noise (pic below).

I have checked the timing and it seems okay - I understand the chains tend to stretch a bit so unlucky to line up perfectly (video below).

Any thoughts on what to try next?

I think I have tensioned the MCCT correctly although I’m not 100% sure. I‘ve bought this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163551294186

Might be wrong but that doesn’t sound like an obvious cam chain/cct problem. Small crack in exhaust system maybe or noise from injectors?

I’ve got a tapping noise coming from my bike

It happens between idle to about 3.5/4K revs and it speeds up with the revs

I thought I was the hydraulic tensioner but I checked it reset it but same thing, I even replaced it but same thing again

I borrowed a stethoscope and it seems like my noise is from the left hand side off the bike rather then the right

Am going to try an borrow my brother smart ear tool to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from , but from what people have told me it’s either the injector on the left hand side or a crack on the exhaust

I hope you find out what’s wrong with yours as my noise does my head in

  4. I'm thinking the same for what it's worth, doesn't sound mechanically "rattly" enough for a CCT problem, didn't hear it revving though, definitely check the headers.

Thanks for responses so far - will check headers and injectors next

This is a quick rev video:

  6. Now I'm not sure, that does sound worse, unfortunately (or fortunately:D) I don't have any first-hand experience with rattly engines, hopefully somebody with better knowledge will give you more ideas.
Was the bike a non-runner when you bought it?
Why didn't the the original owner fix the problem?

Sounds to me like an exhaust leak from the SAI reed valve covers.

yeah non runner when I bought it - the previous owner used it for commuting, so bought something more suitable straight away rather than having it off the road for repairs
