Do you own any clothing for wet weather riding? I only have dry weather clothing & choose dry days to ride, so far I have been lucky enough not to be caught out….. Im sure the day will come where I get soaked & wish I had something to keep me dry. What clothes do you own? What would you have on your wish list? Are the one piece rain suit that goes over you cloths any good? Thanks
I have one of the all in one oversuits, they keep you dry but you sweat buckets under them  . I just use my waterproof textiles otherwise it rained on tuesday coming back from London, my textiles were soaking but i was dry inside & they keep you warmish. I don't think they would be any good in a complete downpour, though luckily like you i haven't been caught in one yet.
I just bought an all in one over suit from M&P, waited for ages mind! out of stock, All I had until now was the Furygan Iridium jacket which keeps me dry and a pair of low cost plastic baggy over troons.. I have not used the new piece of kit yet, but it looks a feels like and really good. its called a tech7
I have a one peice over suit by Richa which is very good. It wont fit over racing leather though. I also have 2 peice textile kit Triumph brand. Its a great peice of kit and has never failed me. I cant remember how much the Richa was I think about £60 but the Triumph kit was £200 in a Triumph half price sale. Thank me and help beat D41
Pro's of the 1-piece oversuits - you can pack it down & carry until you get caught out. BUT, not really ideal if you do more than the odd wet mile. They can tear quite easily, then you're stuck. At least they're relatively cheap. If you ARE going to go out all weathers, GORE TEX is definitely the way to go, IMO. I commute by bike, have even been out in the snow (on the old bike), so have tried the above options. Cheap oversuit over leathers/textile - not breathable, you get sweaty, so you get cold in winter, then they tear, leaving you a sweaty and wet and cold unhappy bunny. But cheap & ok if you're not out in the wet much. Textile suit (non-gore-tex) - good up until the waterproofing fades away. Different ones will be better / worse than others. I know you can use the wash-in re-waterproofing stuff, but the shopworkers i've spoken to have all said that it never quite restores full waterproofing. Gore-tex - took the plunge & got Hein Gericke's XCR (old version, same as Nick Sanders apparently used for round the world, so i thought should hopefully be decent). No complaints. Lost track of the miles & it's still going strong. I guess you do get what you pay for. Hope my experience & previous unhappy wet days can be of use to someone.
Just a PS to my note about a low cost pair of baggy wet weather over troons - I don't have any more as they fell to bits on my way home from Silverstone down the M40 in a sodding monsoon - So arrived home very tired, cold and worn out in general - Oh and very very wet
I've got a great piece of wet weather gear. It's called a VW Golf. Seriously though, i've got an A*'s drystar jacket that goes over my leathers and a pair of cheap waterproof overalls for if I have to ride in really bad rain. Works just fine and rolls up small too. I don't see the need to drop £££'s on waterproof gear, other than good all weather gloves and maybe boots.
Just use a 1pc rain suit, not very glamourous but works over my 1pc leather, failing that a P reg Escort, with heater and radio 2
I have a wet suite that goes over my leathers but leaves my legs open to the elements. It makes me look like Davide off of little Britain lol
Army issue gore tex waterproofs! Cheap(free) If they get damaged, exchange(free). Hi vis on top and all sorted. I'm just a tight fucker really.
German issue goretex 2-piece, with the hood removed and a high draw-string collar created. The arms could be a little longer, but acceptable at the price (£40 total) and the weight.
im with you on that,,i wear the same over my leathers keeps you nice and dry and also warm in the winter snow,,,why buy when you get for free... also have the issue textiles but find too bulky and restrictive.
