Ride out in support of wooten bassett

Discussion in 'Meets' started by curtis, Jan 19, 2010.

  1. I got my email the other day. I haven't booked a time yet.
I'm riding up with a couple of friends. Figured I'd meet them at ace's around 8:30-9. Have a cuppa then head of 9:30 ish. If anyone else is interested in riding with us let me know... Only one condition though, you can't be one of those twat riders that spends the entire time no more than 1mm from my back wheel or perfectly in my blindspot, then everytime we stop feel that you have to prove you could give rossi a lecture on proper technique... I hate those guys

I don't know the area really well but looking at the map, and bearing in mind that the local area is going to be well congested, a small blast south down the A3102 from W Bassett there is a Texaco in Chippenham, which should have nice coffee, food, loo and what not..there might even be a decent cafe on route ? Or further down in Devizes by the canel there is a really nice pub, where the food is good and well priced. This again is not to far down.

These are my suggestions as a point to meet up > Better solutions welcome

    Texaco address.

Right I have found the pub its the black horse - I have attached a link to the google map page, you will see its about 30 mins away from Wotton Bassett - If of interest? or another one in Avebury if you want to check out some standing stones - some nice roads and views in this neck of the woods.

0645 a bit early for me! Time booked for 1400. Intend to leave Ace at about 0930/10 and then stop at a pub/cafe. Black Horse sounds promising-there is a good pub in village called Yatton Keynell close to junc 17 which could also be an option?

  10. Just to say, I won't be going to box hill first now. I'm going to go straight there, due to all the silly changes!

hopefully I'll bump into a few others from here, I'll sure you'll stand out amongst the 10,000 bikes!

well i hadn’t booked as I didn’t know if I could go today or not , but as it turned out I could ,so I went down anyway .
didn’t go into Wooten basset itself as it was just chock a block & we hadn’t reserved a place anyway
but it was fantastic to see so many bikes of all sorts out & about around the Swindon area
here’s a photo of the scene that greeted me at our meet up point ( frankly services ) on the M5

  13. I wish I could have been there. Word on the grape vine is that is was "Fuc&%ng awesome!" loads of money raised and motorcycling in the public eye for all the right reasons. I know that all the Armed Forces guys will be greatful for what has been done. Thank you too all who went along and supported the ride. Now lets see some photos!

  17. Andysjt,

I was there on a white SE, wearing a St. George Arai Condor helmet, with a large (Royal British Legion) lion's head sticker on the side of each side fairing. I was near the front though, since I got to Hullavington at 0745hrs.

Hope everyone who went had a great day today. Gutted I couldn't be there as I'm not back in the UK for another week :(

I'm ex-military and have a lot of friends who are still serving so thanks for showing your support, it is much appreciated and I know the military lads and lasses are very grateful.

Can't wait to see the pics, thanks again everyone ;)
