i have ridden the r1 and its a big old buss, it doesn't feel as quick as it is, wasn't impressed but that's just my opinion. the blade is a blade, solid, dependable, honda. a better bike i think, looks better thats for sure. ZX10R or RC8R for me, or of these 2 the HRC blade.
Id rather have either of these than the s1000r... Id rather do a striptease for my mum than have the s1000r...
My other half has a cross-plane R1. IMHO it's a bike that's ALL about the engine - and it is fantastic! Problem is, the chassis doesn't feel anywhere near as impressive and in the corners the R1 feels far heavier than it is . It's a comfy bike to ride but not one test encourages you to hang off it as it feels pretty wide. I've just picked up a 2010 KTM RC8R after selling my 2011 D675. The RC8R is special and is a different league to the R1 in terms of handling. It's a far more balanced blend of engine / chassis quality and is a frickin' hoot to ride . Can't comment on the BMW S1000RR but i know an RC8R owner that recently moved to one and loves it. On the other hand there has been at least one member on here that chopped his RR in for a D675. I'd recommend giving the RC8R if you put handling ability at the top of your list. You'll struggle to find anything in the class that'll stay with it in the twisty stuff.....which if you're honest is actually where a bike is the most fun!
Problem with the s1000rr is its all about the electronics. I hate electronic trickery. I feel it dulls the senses and takes the skill out of throttle and clutch modulation
And people here are right Honda build a bike that is so well refined that it may seem boring. But I feel the point is to be refined. They've ignored electronics and worked on refinement. Only problem is that I would really like a 12 plate blade. The new front design.but they have shown bpf and I would want ohlins inserts but bpf don't support it
The S1000RR reminded me a LOT of my 675 but just mmmmm. If I was dying for a 1L it'd 100% be the one I went for. Size and weight just felt so close it didn't feel like a big change and the handling and braking were both amazing.
Blade all day long. Much more "useable" on the road. Lovely balance, predictable and very forgiving. Had a few over the years and can see me going back to one next time around I think.
so have been working on the deal with my local dealer been offered $13k AUD (thats 8.5k GBP) for the daytona trade in. and have decided on one of these, the new model and HRC colour
thanks d41 just waiting to hear from my bank as the daytona is financed. they need to release security over it so i can trade it. gonna be using more tires now, remember my 09 model blade used to get about 3000km from a rear tire normal street use, but i was a hoon back then too...lol
Also helps I've purchased these 4 bikes from the dealer 07 gsxr750 09 cbr 1000rr 08 1098 11 675r So they should have given a good deal
