Well, after a couple of weeks pondering I am getting nearer to a decision on whether to sell my beloved Daytona. I love road riding and my Daytona but I have less and less people to ride with and with the rubbish weather I am not getting out nearly half as much as I used to. My brother in law does a LOT of off-road riding and I'm thinking of selling my Daytona and buying a KTM 250/350 EXC-F. I know this won't go down well with the purists on here but any advice would be welcome good or bad. I have considered a cheap off road and a cheap Street Triple but I think that deceives the object. Thinking of spending £4k-£4.5k on the bike. Will need some off road gear. My reasons are I only work 1.5 miles away from home. I am enjoying riding to work more on my Mountain bike than I am commuting on my Daytona. I will miss long rides out but I can still commute on a KTM and I can go off roading every weekend with my Brother in law. We have gotten a little closer after my sisters death and I think it is a good way to maintain a relationship with him. Also, would anyone be interested in buying it or any parts as I will be stripping it back to standard. Things like: Arrow Silencer (£250) Cordona Quickshifter (£120) Ohlins TTX Rear Shock (£500) Double Bubble Screen (£20) Carbon Infills, Heat shield, heel guards, chain guard, hugger (£150 the lot) Black Seat Cowl (£50) Custom seat (see my pics.....does have my name on but may be removable!) (£50) Kriega Luggage (US20 and 2 x US10's) (£100) Triumph Alpinestars 2 piece Leathers (£200) Aplinestars GP Pro Gloves (White/black) Large (£60) Alpinestars Waterproof Gloves (£40) Abba Stand Bobbins to fit Street Triple/Daytona 675. (£10) Maybe even a Garmin Zumo 660 which is currently wired into the bike. (£290) Oh of course, and a Black 2009 Daytona with 14k miles. (£5,000) I'm not looking to sell anything until probably September but welcome any interest.
Wow. Seems like the Daytona riders are dropping like flies at the minute. Completely understandable though mate and hope you're happier after this decision. Good luck.
Ozzer it sounds entirely sensible to me. Roads will always be there and off roading is fun. Plus there'll be the inevitable time when you want a full sus MTB! What colour is yr double bubble ? If clear interested and in the gloves if in good nick ?
Screen is tinted mate. Look at my vida on youtube. Cadwell park is good example. I have to pairs of gloves. A black pair in new condition and a black and white pair in used condition. Probably accept £40 for the white ones actually. PM email address and I'll post some pics if you want them. Before I start stripping the bike I'd be interested if someone wanted it all on the bike as I could discount it some what save me stripping it.
couldnt think of anything worse than stripping my bike before selling it on good luck with whatever you decide to do ozzer
+1 Mate. It's not helped by the fact that it's some of our finest members too, I hope you guys will all still be keeping an eye on us.!! Good sentiment in your logic Ozzer (wouldn't expect any less from you, obviously mate). GLWS
I'll put you first on a list for it. Want to see if I can sell as a whole yet and nothing being sold until bike is gone. Shouldn't be long though before it goes on MCN or eBay. If I'm doing it I want it gone before end of Sept.
Can't go wrong with a ktm Offroad plus I get what you mean about riding every weekend. Do miss my dirt bikes. Might reinvest in a cheapy come winter
Forgot to mention I have some black ASV Shorty levers too. £120 WIll put your name on the list for first refusal on Kriega gear.
hate to be a vulture but i'm interested in the seat cowl if it's the same black as the 2009 (jet black i think)! otherwise good luck mate. i have considered off road and will def give it a go in the future. that way it doesn't matter if it rains or not! fun is not affected. in fact probably more fun in the rain/mud! the summer here this year was absolutely appalling and if we get another one, sod the bike, i'll be selling my house! as long as you've still got a bike all will be cool!
That's the one. I'll put you first refusal. Like I said, bike needs to sell first but when it does, anything not bolted to it when it's sold will go on here.
Interested in all the carbon mate . Keep me posted . And I'm also looking into enduro/supermoto route
Good luck with the sale mate, enjoy the new bike/bikes when you get them. Obviously this forum has grown in 5 years from a dedicated 675 forum to include many other bikes and riders as its friends, its down to people after all what makes it. So in light of that, don't be a stranger and make sure you posts pictures when you get you new baby
