No matter how I adjust my mirrors, I still can't see the road behind, or over to the right, making lane changing dodgy. I'm fairly broad shouldered and as a result they're all I can see. Is there a solution?
There are mirror extender spacers like so: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2011-Trium ... 0414669407 Which are probably the least nasty solution, but not seen much in the way of longer stalks for the bike.
Thanks. As an inexperienced/slow rider, seeing what's coming up behind is pretty important for my confidence
Likewise. In fact it has become second nature to the point where when I rode that Dakar into the city the other morning I found that I was automatically deflecting my elbows every time I looked in the mirrors.
I have on occasion lifted my arms a little, but view is still very limited. Tucking them in does nothing to help. Maybe I just need to get skinny lol.
I used to lift my elbows or tuck in depending on the view I was trying to get based on my position on the road, too be honest I do it now on the S1, habit I suppose.
I'm not so broad shouldered I guess, but also have the mirror problem. They can be adjusted to give better rear visibility, but it's really down to the seating position and the fact that your shoulders are so near the mirrors. Extending them is the only real option in my view.
Id say I'm pretty broad shouldered an I find I can only see by tucking my elbows, it's become second nature now so it doesn't bother me
Im in the tuck in mob rode my supermoto all winter with no mirrors and finding the daytona ones work ok with me looking a dick doing the chicken flap now and again lol
Coming from 5 years of daily commuting on a Honda VFR Vtec to a Daytona 675 as a play thing I just couldn't get on with the mirrors. I actually found shifting my arms around to look in them extremely distracting to the point that I felt it affected my riding. So much so that I found myself trying to limit my use of them! Not good. Quick trip up to Hughendon Triumph and a set of Daytona 650 mirrors later and I'm delighted  . Admittedly the 650 jobbies don't look as nice as the stock 675 ones but they aren't offensive and I can now view everything behind me with just a sideways glance - perfect . Honestly, if you can deal with the vanity pain........the 650 mirros are a massive improvement I did try the adjustable jobbies from the USA too before going for the 650's - don't bother following my path. The adjustable ones have an extra joint that works loose leading to them flopping down against the nose section  Hope that helps!
The 650 ones do the job fine but they look like big ears on a 675. I still have the stock ones, push the stalks back, and angle the mirrors forward, if that makes sense??
Yes, thanks for the great replies. Considering having some half inch spacers made up, not sure if anyone Olsen has tried this? Have to admit to being a little vain regarding the bike, but if all else fails I will look to get some 650 mirrors. Cheers. Matt.
I just lift up my elbows and look under them - find it far easier and better than trying to tuck them in!
Brabant Motors in Grave, near Nijmegen advertise spacers. Just google 'brabant motors'. I think the spacers are 40mm. I am considering trying some in the next couple of months.
