    Hello!
Sorry for bringing up this topic again, seems to be a popular one, But I just wanted to clear a few things about the rattle/tapping noises people are reporting with their 675's.

I've got an 09 Street Triple, done just over 5100 miles, Had its 6000 mile service done last October ( Got a new Regulator/Rectifier and Stator fitted at the same time under Triumphs most excellent 'good will' warranty :-D at Carl Rosner),

basically, upon start up from cold, I hear quite a distinctive Tapping sound coming from the top right of the engine, tends to stop after about 5 or so minuets after warming up, pretty sure it comes and goes while riding but I can't say for sure, going to try and get out tomorrow and hear how it sounds through out the rev range.

I've trawled through forums looking for any answers but Im left a bit lost. I Read someone popped some more oil in theirs and it went away, (Checked the oil and the oil level was bang center on the dip stick) Also I hear people saying that the 09 675 engine has a slightly different CCT or something along those lines. I also cannot find an answer to just how much and what damage a naff CCT can cause if that is the issue? I would go to Triumph but from what i have heard they are no help in regards to this matter.

    HELP!

Cct is very prone on the early models not so much on the newer. Doesn't mean it can't play up. You'll get some ticking/tapping noise anyway but if you think its excessive get it back to dealer

Thanks a lot Hamster, I'll just have to keep an ear out in the mean time

  4. I have a similar issue, 07 Daytona with an oscillating tickin noise that get louder when it is warmed up. can't say it is coming from the right hand side specifically, more like the top end. I did the valve clearances earlier in the year and fitted a new cam chain (the old one had tight spots!) but it still sounds the same.
I did wonder if I can hear the SAI valves clapping shut??

Could it be faulty clearance shim, from when you did the valves.?? ( :? but wouldn't expect that to get louder when warm)

  6. The re shiming of the valves made no difference to the noise! But it deffo is louder when hot, and the fact it seems to 'oscillate' is odd too ie it goes TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK tick tick.......TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK tick tick.......
(Sorry, hijacking the thread here... !)

Mine sounds the same. Either sai valve clicking away or have you got a small leak at the manifold ports.
