95 mile blast around High Wycombe Marlow, Henley. Popped into Powerbiking to take a look around their stock and headed home. Went out early this morning when the weather was cooler.
It's Sunday. It's my lazy day off. So I know, I'll get up stoopidly early to go to the super car and super bike brekky meet at Wilton House. Despite all my grumblings about an early start, it was a good run down there and was well worth it. There did seem to be A LOT if bikes around Thruxton for some reason though...
Went out with the advanced lot for a Training Run. 38 riders including @moto450cc and me, which was nice to see as he wasn't able to come early in week. We went down some real country roads with hedges on both sides and got caught behind 2 massive tractors hauling hay bundles at 10-20MPH. I watched as a Audi 4x4 came around a corner and had to ditch into the side of the road, to be honest think it was just lucky timing there was a space for it to ditch into, could of been nasty if it was further down the road. All in all 200miles. One bird hit me in the side. 2 rear slides (1 on gravel and 1 on wet mud) and one small tank slapper. Wet leathers and a broken visor! Quite a day!! Think it was too long by the end of the day I was messing everything up and was shattered, on the way home I just headed straight down the motorway to get back quickly as possible!!
What group do you ride with @Rossgo? I / we've been starting to look around for a more advanced riding group in our area. Neither of us are particularly interested in passing any tests, but we both want to improve our riding skills and get out with some good, fast riders on a more regular basis.
We ride with TVAM (Thames Valley Advanced Motorists) they are a big group covering a huge area. It's well worth it in my opinion. It opens so may doors from BBQ to European trips. PM me for more details if interested
Set off 12:30pm on Saturday. Bolton to Devils Bridge. Then onto Hawes and Masham. Back home though Ripon, Pateley Bridge, Grassington, Clitheroe, Belmont. Home around 10pm
No kids for two days (at the grandparents) = a cheeky 3hr blast round the Brecon Beacons on some proper "between the hedges B-roads" followed by a proper clean of the bike, coronas and a bacon Sarnie.️
Legacy it's a lovely valley Llangollen isn't it, we took it on the way to Holyhead. Currently in Milford done something like 800 miles ish so far, been out tonight for drop of the black stuff and some trad bhodran, banjo, whistle, Ullieann pipes etc.
Found a number of new roads I've never been on before on a 4.5hr hallpass - round Monmouthshire, Abergavenny and Brecon with @redsail. Got a little competitive with a Diavel too, those things certainly can shift, if they are a little on the wide side for my taste.
Some great roads aren't they. The annual death toll figures for the area are a little unsettling though.
