Hmm, not very impressed with the first outing of the Olfi. The sound is dreadful compared to my GoPro Session and a good number of the mp4 files are corrupt and won't play :(

Anyone got any idea on how to corrupt them? The files are the right size for the duration of the footage but can't be read by windows at all.

The sound or the corruption? Mine is OK once the revs get over a certain range but at the lower end is very noisy.

The video corruption is really frustrating :(

  4. These are disappointing comments! I was excited to try mine next weekend .

Hope you guys find a fix soon!

it might be to do with where i mounted it (sound wise). Give it a try first to see. I can't see a setting to turn down the on board mic. I think the volume setting for that was way too high.

The J buckle didn't sit well in the mount, it wobbled and I ended up resorting to attaching it to a GoPro low profile buckle.

What are you trying to open the files with? Try mpeg stream clip its a free download.

Or hitfilm express is free editor and will definitely open them.

I found with the mounts I needed to use a screwdriver to tighten them up so they wouldn't move.

Some of them open just fine in anything. The last several files won't open in premiere pro or any native windows apps and they don't read a duration as the other files do. The files read as corrupted when I try to open in premiere pro.

The j buckle mounted poorly into the adhesive mount on the bike. No screws to play with, it just wobbled.

Is that straight from the card or have you copied them to your computer? If not do that.

Did you format the card before using it?

Both straight from the card and copied to my machine.

Yes, I formatted it using the camera.

The first half of the day is readable, the second half is not. I charged the camera at lunch but didn't change anything or push any buttons.

I suppose it's possible that portion of the card has something wrong with it but then it would seem unlikely I'd be able to copy the files.

My guess would be on the card. I've had many occasions where I can see and copy files but they are corrupt and it's usually like you say that portion of the card.

I've spoken to the guys at olfi and they've asked me to send a corrupt file to them to look at.

I'm going to try running sd card recovery software to see if that can pull the file through that.

It's a brand new card so hopefully not the issue. I've never had it happen on any of my other SanDisk cards (so arguably I'm due!)

  12. Just had a thought, is the card fast enough to record in 4K? If that's what your recording in, maybe it's corrupt because it can't write as fast as you're recording? maybe

With GoPro's, you have to use class 10 SD cards. I had loads of issues with my GoPro until I bought I better SD card.

It's a SanDisk Extreme 64 GB, should be quick enough

    I have been running these:
Lexar 32GB MicroSDHC UHS-I Memory Card and Reader

I haven't had an issue with these cards, had a lot of problems with other cards though.

Sounds like the cameras might be the problem if more then one of you guys have had issues.

The olfi will tell you if your card is too slow. So unless it displayed 'card too slow' you have a card that can record hi bitrate. Even with this message it will record at the standard data rate no problems.

Another thought have you guys updated the firmware via the downloads page?

I updated mine last week before using it so I wouldn't have known of there's an issue with previous firmware.

  19. Maybe I'm right get a different memory card and see what happens
